Description: Binet defined intelligence as “adjustment or common sense, initiative, ability to adapt oneself to judge well, understand well, rea son well”. According to Wagon -“Intelligence is the capacity to learn and adjust to relatively new and changing conditions.” David Wechsler: “Intelligence is the aggregate or global capacity of an individual to act purposefully, to think rationally, and to deal effectively with his environment.” From the definitions it is clear that an intelligent has the following characteristics: adaptation to novel situation, abstract and rational thinking, purposive behavior, economy and efficiency of performance, ability to retain and retrieve past knowledge.
